Once, when I was a small child, I found a wounded sparrow in the garden. To keep it warm and hopefully alive, I held it in my hands all morning long, as I observed and noted every detail of its being. It was so small, so delicate and fragile, and so trusting. And it could do something I could not... It could fly.
And fly it did, later, when I held it up to the sky, and since then, watching it fly away, I have been in awe of birds.
During the pandemic years, I found myself with time and freedom to do what I love and do best: wandering. Being a true `nature boy,` I spent those days outside with no reason not to stop, stand still, and admire what I saw before me.
Later, I set out to write a book about the names and folklore of birds and wanting to illustrate the book myself, I knew that I had to get closer to them. This explains why there are so many photographs of birds on my Macs… and some I have included here. My other passion is travelling … seeking, wandering, eyes open and with the camera in my hand. And each year I create a calendar. The 2026 edition is now on sale here… thepoetstable.bigcartel.com
